UH07 | CLASS 1

Ever keen to improve the breed, the 2003/4 UH Formula Student team were keen to employ skills they had honed on their year in industry to make their most successful FSAE car to date. The UH07 FS car featured our first full carbon fibre monocoque chassis. The team secured fantastic support from long time supporters Henkel Loctite, and in addition Amber Composites for the carbon fibre material, Hexcel for the honeycomb material and TVR for use of their Engineering base in Blackpool. The team also pursued aerodynamic advantages with a detailed 30% wind tunnel model being produced with the technical assistance of Jordan Grand Prix. The car looked awesome with the side pods, the nose wing and the rear diffuser all providing significant down-force. The engine team progressed well, especially after the technical feedback Jon Hilton, the UK Technical Director for Engine Development of Renault F1, provided when he gave a presentation to the team. The team conducted full vehicle simulation using ADAMS to help specify the settings on the teams custom dampers from Quantum Racing Services.
